Emerald cut diamond

Emerald · 1.00 ct minimum · fancy yellow · $600 per carat

Roughly 8.1 × 5.7 mm face up — the measurement a setter works from.

360° footage of a stone of this cut. Shown in white — a fancy color stone is cut identically. Yours is allocated at dispatch and will meet or beat the specification below.

Emerald cut

A step cut. It shows clarity rather than hiding it.

Long parallel facets act like a hall of mirrors, which means inclusions have nowhere to hide. Buy an emerald at VS1 or better unless you have looked at the specific stone, and expect a quieter, more architectural kind of shine.

Size

1.00 ct minimum

The size you choose is the floor. Stones ship at that weight or up to 10% over — 1.00 to 1.10 ct — and never under.

Body color

$600 / ct

Saturated yellow, graded fancy or better. White diamonds are $510 a carat; fancy colors are $600.

Price

Clarity
VS1 or better. Often better.
Color
Fancy yellow or better.
Cut
The cut you chose, graded Excellent or above.

We move enough volume that we will not pretend to know which stone in the parcel becomes yours. What we will do is put a floor under every part of it and let the variance run in your favor — the weight, the clarity and the color can come in above what you paid for, and regularly do.

For example

You order 1.00 ct · VS1 · Fancy yellow.
You might receive 1.10 ct · VVS1 · Fancy yellow.

Same price either way.

What VS1 and fancy actually mean
VS1
Very slightly included. Minor inclusions, hard to locate even under a loupe.
Fancy yellow
Fancy color grades describe hue, tone and saturation rather than the absence of color. Saturated yellow, graded fancy or better. Anything graded below fancy does not leave the workshop.

$600

Buying a emerald

Long parallel facets act like a hall of mirrors, which means inclusions have nowhere to hide. Buy an emerald at VS1 or better unless you have looked at the specific stone, and expect a quieter, more architectural kind of shine.

Proportion to expect: 1.30–1.50 is the classic proportion. We cut to the middle of that range, so a emerald from us looks like the shape you pictured rather than a stretched version of it.

Every emerald is laboratory grown, graded by IGI or GIA, and shipped with its report. If the stone that arrives is not the one you want, request a return authorization within 30 days.
